CMS Releases New Change Request Describing LCD Coding Changes

CMS recently released guidance that will affect the way Contractors handle coding information.  According to MLN Matters MM10901, “it will no longer be appropriate to routinely include Current Procedure Terminology (CPT) codes or International Classification of DiseasesTenth Revision-Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM) codes in the LCDs. All codes will be removed from LCDs and placed in billing & coding articles that are linked to the LCD.”

Contractors have already begun transitioning the coding information from LCDs into related billing and coding coverage articles. The Zebu Team has been hard at work making sure that these changes are reflected as soon as new articles are made available, ensuring a smooth transition for this change.
